Madeira Embroidery distinguished in New York
For the 4th consecutive time, the prestige, beauty and originality of Madeira Embroidery was recognized and awarded prizes in New York.
The New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF)
which ran from 2 to 6 February in the "Javits Convention Center" in New York, once again distinguished Madeira Embroidery. In the category "New York Best New Product Award - Dining" the firm Luís de Sousa, Ltd. was a finalist, with its tablecloth in linen with organdie appliqués.

The jury, composed of a panel of publishers, chose a selection of products in the different categories on the basis of innovation of design, aesthetic appearance, creativity, new materials and technology used.
This presence reinforced the aim of Restructuring and investing in the Internationalization of Madeira Embroidery, where the Regional Secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources through the Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicrafts Institute (IVBAM), jointly with 3 producing companies and exporters of Madeira Embroidery (João Eduardo de Sousa, Ltd., Antonio Gomes de Oliveiras, Ltd. and Luís de Sousa Ltd. As well as Mrs. Maria Ganança, specialist in the art of Madeira Embroidery, represented Madeira Embroidery at this event. It is notable that Madeira Embroidery in its last 3 participations at household textile fairs in New York (August 2006, January 2007 and August 2007) has already been distinguished with other Prestigious prizes among which the most important one, the "Best Of The Show Award" attributed to a baby’s cot sheet, produced by the company Silva Andrade Co. Ltd. featured in the August 2006 edition.
