As part of the Plano de Promoção para o Bordado Madeira (Madeira Embroidery Promotion Plan), the Instituto do Vinho, do Bordado e do Artesanato da Madeira, I.P. (Madeira Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft Institute - IVBAM), together with a Madeira embroidery production/export company, will once again be present at the US textile sector's most renowned fair – the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) – running from the 16th through the 20th of August. The NYIGF is being held at the Javits Convention Center, and is essentially aimed at textile sector professionals. In this highly competitive market, quality and exclusivity are decisive factors for success. The Madeiran delegation at this event is made up of the Head of the Promotion Division at IVBAM, Ms. Rita Galvão, and by the representative of the company, João Eduardo de Sousa, Lda, Mr. Joaquim Sá e Sousa. Madeira embroidery will be represented at a 16m2 stand in a daring project, fusing the contemporary with the classic. The stand's project relies on the quality of the materials, brought to life aesthetically through the exhibition stand structures and by the way in which the product is framed, placing it in a luxury segment.  This will have been the sixth consecutive time since August 2006 that Madeira embroidery has taken part in this fair. Indeed, the North American market is a strategic one in promotional terms, considering that it has topped export tables for Madeira embroidery export markets. This Madeira embroidery promotional event falls into the framework of the project co-funded by the Programme INTERVIR+PRIME at 70% – Promoting Madeira Embroidery and Regional Handicraft.
